Tuesday--rough afternoon
I'm loving my new breakfast. It's pretty easy to make in my new miracle non-stick pan! I don't actually need the OO but it adds a little flavor without a lot of calories. I use just a very little bit.
My exercise for today will be the walk to and from the eye doctor--probably 30 minutes round-trip.
egg+egg white, feta cheese, wilted spinach omelet, cooked in a little OO; coffee: 4
cookies, orange, yogurt, apple: 7
turkey sandwich, cut up veggies, diet coke: 5
another cookie (small one, but still): 2
chicken breast, salad w/OO, few bites of M's pasta: 4
dried apricots: 1
I'm so annoyed... I'm cranky. And therefore I'm eating... whatever. I'm over my points by 1 today. I need to put food out of my mind. Instead, I'm thinking about what other snack I could eat. WHY??
I did so well the first few days on 22 points. It's not impossible. I can do it. So, why am I eating crap at the office, or apricots after my dinner??

Back to reality, Monday, Jan 4
The holidays are officially over, except for my office's "party" today--we all go out to Clyde's for lunch. I need to search the menu for a reasonable option. Meanwhile, I prepared for the event by eating a high-protein breakfast, and packing veggies and fruit for my snacks today. I need to work on getting in more milk, though... I'm supposed to have 2 servings of dairy/day and since I forgot to pack a yogurt, and didn't have milk with breakfast, I'm at 0 servings so far today. Rats.
egg+egg whites, small amount of feta, wilted spinach omelet, 1 tsp OO: 4
peppermint bark: 2 (ugh!!!!!)
Going out for lunch. Planning on the grilled chicken salad, and maybe a cup of soup.
Grilled chicken on salad w/bacon (only a little tiny bit), dressing on the side: 5
I skipped the bread. I only ate 2 of the 3 pieces of chicken tenderloin. Very little dressing
Cappuccino: 2 (got in a milk serving at least!)
small apple, cut up veggies: .5
Dinner is leftover bean soup: 3; mashed acorn squash: 3; bites of pesto pasta: 1
skinny cow (2nd dairy serving): 2
21.5 for the day!!

turkey sandwich, carrots: 5
apple: 1
yogurt, fruit, fiber one: 3
14 so far... .headed to dinner with friends... will be a challenge.
chicken breast pita w/hummos: 6
2 falafel: 4
1/2 pita w/hummos: 2
few french fries: 2
Well, I'm a little disappointed... I ate 28 points and didn't exercise today. :( I should have skipped the falafel/fries. But there was no salad to be had. Still, I skipped dessert and beer/alcohol.

Setting goals for the new year
I went to a weight watchers meeting this morning. I was up .8 from last month, pretty disappointing. At the meeting we talked about setting goals for the next year. The leader stressed the importance of clear, well-defined goals that fit with your life-style. She talked about short-term and long-term goals. I realized that I don't have a well-defined goal for 2010. My clothes all fit. I'm healthy. But then I remember what Jenna wrote about how she never thought she could be like those "skinny" girls. I need to decide if I want to be a skinny girl--a size 6. And if I do, why?
A few goals that are clear: find new recipes that fit our lifestyle--are whole grain, healthy, hearty, and delicious; make exercise a regular part of my day; read more novels.
I was toying with the idea of making January my 'get-tough' month--to vow to exercise 5 days a week and to stay on program all month. In theory, I could lose 5 pounds this month if I do that. With the gain over x-mas, I will need to lose more than that to hit 155.
Intake:
Cereal, milk, blueberries, coffee: 4
turkey sandwich, veggies: 5
30 minutes elliptical machine random hills, level 10
Fage 0% yogurt + 1 c fruit salad: 3
We were invited to dinner so I was careful to not eat too much before hand.
salad w/few olives, already dressed; brown rice (1/2c), shrimp stirfry, mostly veggies: 7
pecan shortbread cookie: 3 (I declined the chocolate cake, sorbet, and ice cream)
mint tea
Another day of eating 22 points!!!

New Year's Day...
... starting fresh for the year. I exercised today. And I ate 22 points and wasn't starving. And we were home today. I'm delighted. And surprised. Feels good to have the first day of the new year, new decade, start off with eating on program and exercising, even though there wasn't really time. Our New Year's Day morning dragged straight into nap time. I fell asleep with M. Then lunch, then we left for the train exhibit at the Arboretum. So by the time we got home it was 5. Doug and I had plans to go to a movie at 8:30. But I still went down to the gym to workout for 35 minutes.
